Project ‘Delivery Hope’ contributes PPE, KN95 masks to medical frontliners

KUCHING (July 4): The Rotary Club of Bintulu Central (RCBC) and LDSC (Latter-Day Saints Charities) joint Medical and Health Donation Project has received a donation of approximately US$100,000 (RM420,000).

“This is the first phase of the proposed project will use the donation from LDS Charities to purchase 11,050 pieces of PPE jumpsuits and 30,000 KN95 facial masks for medical teams who go out to do swab tests

“The protective gear will be distributed to hospitals and divisional health offices in Sarawak through ‘Delivery Hope’,” said RCBC secretary Linnie Lee yesterday.

“Our project slogan “Delivery Hope. Hang in there. Kita Mesti Menang” is our call out message to health care frontliners in appreciation of their contribution and to show they are not alone as the community is with them in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

“RCBC has been working closely with LDSC over the past five years to serve the community,” added Lee.

The project was initiated end of March this year with communication and meetings carried out online with LDSC headquarters in Utah to kick start phase one July 1 which coincided with the beginning of the new Rotary term.

The protective gear were delivered to Petra Jaya Health Clinic July 1; being delivered to Sibu General Hospital and Sibu Divisional Health Office today(July 4); to be delivered Bintulu General Hospital and Bintulu Divisional Health Office July 5 and Miri Divisional Health Office July 6.

According to Lee, other projects include ‘Hope Meal’ with food packs for the needy and those affected by the Movement Control Order and ‘Hope Parcel’ where milk powder is delivered to the bedridden.

RCBC president Allen Wong added that other projects would be carried out particularly medical equipment and aid kits for rural hospitals and clinics.
