KUCHING (June 30): Police have arrested two men in two separate raids that were carried out at 9.30am and 10.15am today for suspected drug possession and drug abuse.
Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the first raid was carried out at Kampung Apar, Singai in Bau which saw the arrest of a 23-year-old suspect.
“During the 9.30am raid, police found nine packets of drugs believed to be methamphetamine weighing at 1.13 grammes,” said Poge in a statement today.
He added that the packet of drugs were found on a table inside the suspect’s bedroom.
Poge said early investigations revealed that the suspect has been involved in drugs since early 2021 due to peer pressure.
For the second arrest, police arrived at a house at Kampung Barieng, Singai in Bau at 10.15am and proceeded to conduct checks on a 31-year-old male in front of the house.
“The suspect after a few moments voluntarily handed police the keys to a motorcycle that was parked in front of the house,” said Poge.
Police then checked under the seat of the motorcycle and found a packet of drugs believed to be methamphetamine weighing at 0.54 grammes.
Both suspects were later brought to the district police headquarters for drug tests which yielded positive results.
Both cases will be investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
