KUCHING (June 29): Two new Covid-19 community clusters in Tebedu and Tatau respectively have been declared in Sarawak today, said State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
The committee in a statement today said Tema Saan cluster in Tebedu involves a locality in Kampung Tema Saan, where 41 out of a total of 222 individuals screened were found positive.
“All positive cases have been admitted into the Serian quarantine and low-risk patients treatment centre (PKRC),” SDMC said.
The Nanga Belungai cluster meanwhile involves a longhouse located in Nanga Belngai, Sungai Kakus in Tatau that was placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).
SDMC said the spread of infection occurred through a communal work (gotong-royong) conducted on June 13 as well as social interactions and close contact among the longhouse folks.
Out of a total of 51 individuals screened, 13 were found positive and the remaining 38 are still waiting for lab test results.
All positive cases have been admitted to Bintulu Hospital and the district’s PKRC.
Meanwhile, SDMC said the Jalan Simpang Tiga cluster in Kuching has ended today after no new cases were reported involving the cluster during the last 28 days.
Currently there are a total of 97 clusters that are still active, with 12 clusters recorded additional 37 new cases today.
