Miri receives 23,880 doses of Sinovac vaccines today, 38,720 more tomorrow – Lee Kim Shin

MIRI (June 17): Miri’s third batch of Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines has arrived at Miri Airport on the Malaysia Airlines MH2574 flight at 11.30am this morning.

According to a statement by Miri Disaster Management Committee (MDMC) a total of 23,880 doses were received this morning, and a fourth batch comprising of 38,720 doses was expected to arrive tomorrow.

Minister-in-charge of MDMC Datuk Lee Kim Shin said Miri has so far received a total of 107,800 doses of the vaccine, including the first and second batches.

He said the total was more than what was announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on June 7.

He said MDMC is relief that supply of Covid-19 vaccines is sufficient for the five districts under Miri Division namely Miri, Subis, Marudi, Telang Usan and Beluru.

Lee who is also the Minister of Transport also visited Dato’ Lee Teck Fook hall at Riam Road Secondary School (RRSS) here today being used as a Covid-19 vaccination centre (PPV).

He said all the necessary facilities have been put in place, and the PPV has no problem accommodating up to 1,500 vaccines daily.

“We’ve also worked together with the police to ensure smoother traffic flow during the immunisation programme,” he said.

During the visit, Lee also witnessed the handing over of 20 units of laptops by the Covid-19 Immunization Taskforce (CITF) to Miri Hospital Director Dr Jack Wong, to be used at the PPV with 40 volunteers.

Meanwhile, Lee is calling members of the public in Miri ages 60 years old and above who have not been contacted for their vaccination, to get in touch with MDMC directly via WhatsApp at 011-59284348 or 011-59424290.

They are to provide their MyKad number, phone number and complete address in the WhatsApp for coordination purpose.
