Police reports were lodged over two recent violent incidents related to COVID-19 patients in Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR), Klang
According to Malaysiakini, South Klang district police chief ACP Shamsul Amar Ramli confirmed that a COVID-19 patient’s son was accused of punching a doctor about 5.45pm last Sunday, 6 June.
It is alleged that the doctor on duty was roughed up at the hospital’s lift lobby by the man following the death of his mother at the hospital.
He said that the suspect reacted out of rage because of a misunderstanding over the deceased’s health condition prior to her death.
“Upon admission, the deceased was treated as a regular patient as she did not show any COVID-19 symptoms,” Shamsul Amar added.

At the same hospital on Wednesday, 9 June, a COVID-19 patient allegedly stabbed a fellow patient with a knife
This unrelated incident took place three days later at about 6.30pm, when the suspect seized a fruit knife in the COVID-19 ward and stabbed the victim in the stomach.
The victim went through surgery right after the assault and is reported to be in stable condition.
Shamsul Amar stated that the 37-year-old suspect is presumed to be mentally ill and was transferred to the Sungai Buloh Hospital two days after the incident.

HTAR’s management and doctors have lodged police reports over both incidents
Shamsul Amar said that the first case is being investigated for causing hurt and the second for causing hurt with a weapon.
He declined to comment further as it is an ongoing investigation.
