Tiong: Use PPV at Dinner World Restaurant in Bintulu for trial run of walk-in Covid-19 vaccination

Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing

SIBU (June 16): Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has suggested for the vaccination centre (PPV) at Dinner World Restaurant in Bintulu to be used for a trial run of walk-in Covid-19 vaccination.

He said during the trial run, people could go to the PPV, fill in their forms and be inoculated before their MySejahtera records are updated.

“I have discussed and submitted this proposal to Bintulu Divisional Health Officer Dr Melvin Chung and hopefully, it will help speed up the rate of vaccination in Bintulu,” he said during a press conference yesterday.

Tiong said they would monitor the situation closely together with the relevant parties to determine the outcome of this trial run.

“If the proposal does not materialise, then the people have to wait for their turn patiently because the government will ensure that no one is left out of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NCIP),” he added.

Nevertheless, Tiong said they have already identified several places that can be used as the PPV to help speed up the vaccination process in Bintulu.

He took the opportunity to remind those going for the vaccination not to go early to avoid congestion at the PPV.

“Say, if your appointment is at 8am, go at 7.30am instead of going at 6am,” he said.

Tiong hoped the Ministry of Health (MoH) would increase the hospital staff in Bintulu to treat patients and medical officers at all vaccination centres because Bintulu is currently experiencing a very critical shortage of staff.
