Community pharmacies must apply operating permit via Miti’s CIMS 3.0 – KPDNHEP

KUCHING (June 11): Community pharmacies must apply for permission to operate during the current Movement Control Order (MCO) 3.0 from Ministry of International Trade Industry (Miti), said Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP).

In a statement today, KPDNHEP said the pharmacies registered under Ministry of Health (MOH) are required to do so through Miti’s Covid-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS) 3.0, which took into effect on June 1.

“The ministry calls on community pharmacies that has yet to apply for permission to operate during the MCO to do so through the CIMS 3.0 system immediately.

“Applications can be made via website https://notification.miti.gov.my,” it added.

As at June 10, the ministry said there were a total of 2,902 applications or 89 per cent of pharmacies under the Pharmaceutical Sector, Retail/Distribution/Wholesale Cluster received through the CIMS 3.0 system, out of which 2,412 applications or 74 per cent were approved.

As at April this year, it added that there were a total of 3,274 community pharmacy premises licensed under the Poisons Act 1952 enforced by the MOH.

On May 31, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi has listed pharmacies as essential service under distributive trade sector.
