1. Trust Again – Raisa, Yonnyboii, Matthaios, and SPRITE

In an epic collaboration between four SEA artists — the first of this scale — a gorgeous trilingual song inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ latest feature film Raya and The Last Dragon has been produced.

In it, we see Indonesian singer-songwriter Raisa Andriana (better known as Raisa), Filipino rapper Matthaios, Malaysian rapper and producer Yonnyboii, and 15-year-old Thai hip-hop sensation SPRITE bring elements of their own unique styles and cultures to the track.

Not only that, it introduces a melodic meld of several instruments representative of Southeast Asia such as the Angklung, the Jaw Harp, and the Seruling, as well as elements from Gamelan, Thai Ensemble, and Ethnic Percussions.

2. Dámelo To’ – Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez may be contemplating retirement from music but not before she’s through with the release of her first-ever full Spanish album, REVELACIÓN.

After releasing two sensual collaborations, Baila Conmigo with Rauw Alejandro and Selfish Love with DJ Snake, as well as a single De Una Vez, Gomez has now dropped the entire album.

Speaking to Zane Lowe from Apple Music, Gomez talked about singing in Spanish, sharing: “This project is really an homage to my heritage. A lot of my fan base is Latin, and I’ve been telling them this album was going to happen for years. But the fact that it’s coming out during this specific time is really cool.”

3. Can’t Let You Go – Ali Gatie

In an emotional new track, Iraqi-Canadian singer-songwriter Ali Gatie is back to illustrate “the struggles of moving on and how impossible they may seem at times”.

With 3.5 billion streams globally, Ali Gatie continues his global takeover with his forthcoming EP, The Idea Of Her, slated for release on 26 March. The EP will be a compilation of different stories and metaphors to showcase the different sides of love.

4. 2Drunk – Nick Jonas

Nick Jonas’ 11-song album, Spaceman was made “while doing what most of us have been doing during this past year, sitting at home getting used to the new normal and hoping for better days ahead. There are four central themes we will explore on this album… Distance. Indulgence. Euphoria. Commitment”.

It follows Nick Jonas’ 2016 Last Year Was Complicated. The full album is now available on all streaming platforms.

In the titular track from his third solo studio album, Nick Jonas sings about the impact of isolation, of how “we ain’t supposed to live with nobody around”.

In the accompanying music video, we see the 28-year-old desolately wandering a planet as he tries to get back home to his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who appears as a hologram.

Priyanka makes appearances via a hologram and through screens, he watches, which fuels the spaceman’s drive to keep faith that they will be reunited if he just keeps trying.

5. Follow You – Imagine Dragons

The pop-rock band Imagine Dragons is back!

Having worked on their upcoming album ID5, tentatively named as such until more details are released, lead singer Dan Reynolds shared his nerves and excitement for the release.

Taking to Twitter, Reynolds gave context to their two latest songs. He explained that Follow You is “a song about loyalty and love, an imperfect process that isn’t always pretty”.

Meanwhile, its B-side Cutthroat, is a narrative that is completely opposed to Follow You, where self-pity is loathed and gratitude is exemplified.

Having been together for a decade, the band has won a Grammy, three American Music Awards, and nine Billboard Music Awards. Their latest tracks mark the first music releases from Imagine Dragons since their 2019 Birds (Remix), with their last album being 2018’s Origins.

6. On The Ground – Rosé

Finally, after four years since her debut in BLACKPINK, Roseanne Park has released music as a solo artist.

Titled -R- (which is so on brand in its simplicity and elegance), Rosé’s debut track is an English track that plays around with a mix of country and EDM, as she sings about her life in the spotlight and how, despite initially wanting all the glitz and glamour, she realises that there are more important things in life.

The New Zealand-born’s first debut album also features Gone, which Rosé performed at the recent online concert. The tracks were written by the singer herself, with the music video being “everything she dreamed it would be”.

The album is the groups second solo effort after rapper Jennie’s 2018 track SOLO.

Not to be missed is this #FlyInterviews session with Jeremy Zucker & Chelsea Cutler

On this week’s #FlyInterviews with Dan, all the kids are depressed hitmaker Jeremy Zucker and How To Be Human singer Chelsea Cutler delves into their newest EP brent ii.

The EP is a sequel to their first joint project, 2019’s Brent, which saw the duo explore the theme of agonising love — a heart-wrenching breakup, confusion, and desperation.

This then birthed brent ii, for which Zucker says: “The second Chelsea and I put out Brent we knew we were gonna do it again, I just didn’t think it would be so soon. brent ii turned out better than we ever could’ve imagined. So grateful for all of you.”
