KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded 71 new positive Covid-19 cases, two deaths, and 129 recoveries today.
“According to the report of Sabah State Health Department, the number of new Covid-19 positive cases in the state today is 71, bringing the cumulative total to 53,557 cases. Two death cases were recorded today, namely in Kota Kinabalu and Keningau district,” he said here today.
“Today, a total of 129 Covid-19 patients have been discharged or recovered from the hospital, taking the cumulative recovery total to 52,290. A total of 594 patients are receiving treatment, namely 220 people in the hospitals, 372 at the public Covid Quarantine and Low-risk Treatment Centres (PKRC) and two at the Temporary Detention Centres (PTS) or prisons.
“The number of Covid-19 patients in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) is 25 and 11 people require ventilators,” said Masidi, also the Local Government and Housing Minister and Finance Minister II.
Masidi said Nabawan recorded 19 new Covid-19 positive cases, the highest in Sabah per district today, followed by Kota Kinabalu (10), Penampang (seven), Putatan (seven), Keningau (six), Ranau (five), Kalabakan (four), Kudat (four), Tawau (two), Kota Belud (two), Beluran (one), Sandakan (one), Kunak (one), Pitas (one) and Tenom (one).
No new cases were found in Kota Marudu, Papar, Lahad Datu, Telupid, Kinabatangan, Kuala Penyu, Semporna, Sipitang, Tuaran, Tambunan, Beaufort and Tongod, and no new clusters were reported today.
He added the Beluran district changed from orange to yellow zone, Kinabatangan district from red zone to orange zone and Putatan from yellow to orange zone.
Masidi said of the 71 Covid-19 positive cases today, a total of 34 cases (47.9%) were from close contact screening, three cases (4.2%) from symptomatic screening, 26 cases (36.6%) from existing cluster screening, and eight cases (11.3%) from other categories.
The total bed capacity at Covid-19 Hospital is 744 units, the Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centres (PKRC) have a total of 3,767 units and the total beds at Temporary Detention Centre (PTS) or prison remain at 490.
This brings the total bed capacity to 5001 units, and the percentage of bed usage was 11.88% today.
On the Sabah State vaccination statistics, Masidi said to date, a total of 2, 520 people have received the daily dose of one vaccine, taking the cumulative total to 12,049 people.
For the Sabah Prihatin Covid-19 2.0 food basket assistance distribution, Masidi said a total of 283,785 food baskets have been distributed to the targeted group in Sabah.
