An elderly man in Johor was recently arrested for impersonating a police officer
According to Kosmo!, the incident took place at Pontian and the suspect was identified as a 60-year-old security guard.
Iskandar Puteri district police chief ACP Dzulkairi Mukhtar said that before being arrested, the suspect went to the Iskandar Puteri police station wearing a jacket and introduced himself as a police officer.
“The suspect arrived around 12.10pm in a silver Proton Preve. He entered the police station and introduced himself as an officer from the Central Johor Bahru police station. He came in, took a few photos of the reception area, and then left the premise,” Dzulkairi explained.
It has been revealed that the man uploaded several photos on Facebook pretending to be an officer on duty
He shared multiple pictures of him wearing a police uniform while working at an office desk.
Besides that, he also wrote about running investigations and filing paperwork on his Facebook profile.
One post featured a fake document that is meant to look like an official police statement regarding a new method used by criminals to steal cars.
Upon his arrest, authorities confiscated police uniforms and badges in the man’s possession, as well as his car
Further investigation revealed that the man had four prior criminal records and he tested negative for drugs, Kosmo! reported.
Dzulkairi added, “The suspect will be investigated under Section 170 of the Penal Code and Section 89 of the Police Act 1967.”
