PETALING JAYA: With all the hullabaloo caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, it goes without saying that school students are probably worse for wear right now.

This especially applies to Form Five students who were supposed to sit for their SPM examinations last year, only to have it postponed.

While classrooms have shifted online, it is quite likely that many students are finding it hard to cope with everything that has been going on.

With this increased stress, the possibility of them being ill-prepared for the actual examination must be daunting to them.

And that’s where Janahan Arumugam, a civil engineering graduate who found his true calling as a maths tutor, wishes to step in.

A lover of all things numbers since his schooling days, it was inevitable that he would eventually want to share his mathematics skills with young Malaysians.

Since he began teaching six years ago, he has taught thousands of students. (Janahan Arumugam pic)

But what is it about maths that draws him in? It is all about understanding a problem, he says.

“Even the most complicated question in maths definitely has a solution,” he writes on a Facebook post.

“Akin to that, for every problem that you face in life, there has got to be a solution in the end.”

Speaking to FMT, Janahan explains that he first took up a job as a Mathematics tutor six years ago largely because he needed a little more pocket money.

Fast forward to the present and he has taught some thousands of students the best tricks and tips to deal with the most complicated of mathematical problems and has also published his own mathematics revision book.

Of course, a lot of things have changed as of late, with the Covid-19 pandemic drastically changing the way students learn.

With that in mind, Janahan is presiding over a Maths seminar later this month, which will be of absolutely no cost to 1,000 students.

The seminar, which is specifically targeted at students sitting for their SPM examinations come February, is open to upper secondary students from any part of Malaysia.

However, the availability of slots is dependent on a first-come, first-serve basis, so if you intend to sign your children up, you will have to move quickly to secure a spot.

The first seminar for Form Four and Form Five students will be on Jan 16, with the second one taking place on Jan 23. Each session will be conducted for two and a half hours starting from 10am.

Students attending this seminar via online platforms will also be able to access short notes, intensive revision practices and past year questions.

Think this is a last-minute yet priceless opportunity for your child to grow some confidence and ace that maths exam?

If the answer is yes, do send a WhatsApp text message to 010-2401434 for more details and registration purposes.
