PETALING JAYA: Giveback.my, a fundraising platform by the BAC Education Group is appealing to generous Malaysians to help them raise a further RM33,000 in funds to be channelled to vulnerable communities severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The target to be achieved by the end of 2020 is RM250,000 with RM217,000 already raised thanks to generous Malaysians.

Giveback.my was initiated in April and is a curated fundraising platform which is purpose-driven, convenient and transparent.

Speaking to FMT, Raja Singham, co-founder and managing director of BAC Education Group, said he sees the work of helping others as a personal responsibility and that he would like to do all in his power to help alleviate the suffering of others.

“Too many people have fallen through the cracks this year as a result of the unprecedented pandemic that has ravaged the country,” he explained.

He added that unemployment has skyrocketed and many businesses have had to make tough decisions in order to survive – either reinvent themselves or speed up the evolution of their business model, failing which they face the grim prospect of shutting down.

“Many graduates are finding themselves in a predicament of either choosing a job they might be overqualified for or spending extra time reskilling in order to meet industry demand which is rapidly evolving.”

“As we believe all Malaysians should have equitable access to education, we are pledging to transform one million lives by December 2021 through various initiatives that we have started,” he said.

Raja has full faith in the generosity of Malaysians and is confident many will step up to help raise the remaining RM33,000 needed to help the less fortunate.

“Malaysians in general are open to helping others. They just need the guidance and assurance that all their money will go directly to those in need.”

“This is why through the Giveback platform, 100% of your contributions go directly to the NGO,” he added.

The Giveback portal will add more initiatives by year-end and continue appealing to Malaysians to give back to society, Raja added.

Initiatives listed under Giveback:

  • Collaboration with Rotary International District 3300 to provide 2,000 students nationwide with laptops.
  • Collaboration with Humana Child Aid Society Sabah to extend immediate aid to families within the Tawau and Semporna districts without adequate food supplies due to Covid-19 restrictions.
  • Collaboration with PERMA to bring Christmas cheer to children who will receive presents and cash.
