SIBU (May 16): A total of 95 ‘iman’, ‘bilal’ and ‘merbut’ (mosque helpers) from Tanjung Manis parliamentary constituency, and Kuala Rajang and Semop state constituencies, received ‘duit raya’ recently, courtesy of Persatuan Kebajikan Masyarakat Tanjung Manis (Permanis) whose chairman is Datuk Seri Abang Aditajaya Abang Alwi.
The association also gave the same to 232 ‘Tadarus Al Quran’ participants from 17 mosques and three surau in Tanjung Manis parliamentary constituency, Kuala Rajang and Semop state constituencies.
Heads of the respective area, representing Abang Aditajaya, handed over the money to the recipients.
Permanis was established last year under Abang Aditajaya’s initiative to assist people in Tanjung Manis parliamentary constituency.
In a press statement yesterday, Abang Aditajaya hoped the contribution could create a joyous festive atmosphere and lessen the people’s burden during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said similar programme would be continued from time-to-time, and hopefully to be made an annual event.
