
PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has detected three new Covid-19 clusters in the country over the last 24 hours.
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said they are the Metropolis construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur, the Estate Maju cluster in Sabah and the Batu 39 cluster in Johor.
The Metropolis construction site cluster was detected in Kepong, with the index case testing positive on Dec 14 after a workplace screening. A total of 481 people have been screened with 147 found positive.
The Estate Maju cluster involves the Kota Kinabalu, Putatan and Tuaran districts in Sabah, with the first case testing positive on Dec 8 in a screening after exhibiting symptoms. Some 63 people have been screened with 28 testing positive.

The Batu 39 cluster was detected in Pontian with the index case testing positive on Dec 18 after a targeted workplace screening. A total of 152 people related to the cluster have been screened, with 28 testing positive.
Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said three other clusters had officially ended today, namely the Saga, Tatahan and Sakti clusters in Sabah. There are 199 clusters still active, of which 44 reported new infections today.
The clusters with the most spike in cases are the Metropolis construction cluster (140 cases), Ceram cluster (107) and Jalan Harapan Prison cluster (58).
