Warisan not working together with Perikatan Nasional

Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal has refuted claims that his party is working together with Perikatan Nasional (PN).

“Warisan categorically denies that it will work together with PN as implied in a recent article by the Sarawak Report,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Semporna Member of Parliament (MP) went on to stress that the report was erroneous.

The report stated that there were rumours of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad throwing his support to the “failing rebel backdoor coup government”.

The report claimed that the PN administration has worked out a deal with Mahathir, who allegedly has the support of Shafie and currently controls 15 of the parliamentary seats.

“They appear to have offered him the job of leader of a National Recovery Council,” the report stated.

In return for the position, Mahathir’s Pejuang and Warisan will throw its support to PN.

The report pointed out that the said claim can be backed by the recent visit by “an unelected Finance Minister” to Mahathir and the sudden registration of Mahathir’s Pejuang.
