Five men in Singapore died on the second day of Chinese New Year after their car crashed into a shophouse and burst into flames
According to Bernama, the fatal accident occurred on Tanjong Pagar Road in the wee hours of the morning last Saturday, 13 February.
All five occupants of the BMW M4 Coupé, aged between 26 and 29, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, a woman who had attempted to save them from the fiery crash is currently in critical condition at the Singapore General Hospital with burn injuries to 80% of her body.
New details and video footage have emerged showing that the woman ran into the fire to save her fiancé and friends trapped inside the car
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage obtained by The Straits Times shows that the white BMW was speeding on empty city roads at around 5.40am before losing control and slamming into a shophouse.
About 15 seconds later, the car burst into flames but a woman, now known to be 26-year-old Malaysian Raybe Oh, was seen running quickly towards the burning car and into the fire.
In other videos of the incident, the former air stewardess emerged a few seconds later alone, while a few bystanders tried to help douse the fire off her clothes.
It is believed that Oh’s fiancé, 29-year-old Jonathan Long, was taking his colleagues for a ride in his car when the accident occured
The Straits Times reported that the group of friends were at a Korean barbecue restaurant to celebrate Chinese New Year when they decided to take the car for the ride.
More videos of the incident sighted by the Singaporean daily showed that the BMW had sped along Tanjong Pagar Road three times before crashing during the fourth round.
Oh was at the nearby restaurant when she heard the crash.
The other deceased were financial advisors who worked with Long at the same company, named Wilson Teo Qi Xiang, 26, Elvin Tan Yong Hao, 28, Eugene Yap, 29, and former colleague, Gary Wong Hong Chieh, 29.
