KUCHING (May 28): National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin is expected to make two major announcements at around 4pm today, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman declined to elaborate further on the two major announcements, but assured there would be good news for Sarawak in its effort to address the Covid-19 situation.

“There will be a PC (press conference) later. I don’t know (the details of the announcements). Not here,” he said when met by reporters after accompanying Khairy during the latter’s visit to the Stadium Perpaduan Covid-19 vaccination centre this morning.

Also with them was Minister of Local Government and Housing Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is also SDMC advisor.

During the SDMC press conference yesterday, Uggah said the Sarawak government would discuss with Khairy on the volume of Covid-19 vaccines coming to the state for the state’s vaccination programme in June, July, and August.

He told reporters that Sarawak would be intensifying its Covid-19 vaccination programme in the coming three months.

Khairy, who is also Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, is on a one-day working visit to Sarawak.

His programme includes a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg later in this afternoon.

After that, he will participate in a meeting with the Sarawak Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) before holding a press conference around 4pm.
