Two wanted criminals detained

PAPAR: Two wanted criminals who rammed their vehicle into police patrol cars, were arrested by police on Thursday.

Papar police chief DSP Batholomew Umpit said both suspects, age 21 and 36,  were apprehended by police at a petrol station along Jalan Kimanis/Keningau around 4.40pm on July 8.

“Police managed to track down the suspects in the area and immediately made an arrest,” he said on Friday.

Batholomew said police had seized the vehicle that was used by the suspects including their handphones for further investigation.

Police investigation also revealed that both suspects were positive of drug abuse with several criminal records.

They will be remanded for investigation under Section 307 and 379 of the Penal code for attempted murder and theft respectively.

On July 6, the two wanted suspects escaped after  ramming their vehicle into police patrol cars in Papar.

Police investigation revealed that both suspects were wanted for several crimes, including 10 cases involving stolen telecommunication cables worth RM100,000.
