KUCHING (June 22): Two new Covid-19 clusters have been detected in Sebauh and Telang Usan involving a longhouse and two villages under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO), said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
In a statement, the committee said the new community cluster declared at Sebauh was named Sungai Long Seripa Cluster.
“Sungai Long Seripa Cluster is a community cluster involving a longhouse placed under EMCO at Sungai Long Seripa, Tubau, Sebauh,” said the committee.
It said a total of 108 individuals had been swabbed with 40 returning positive, including the index case. The remaining 68 samples are still pending laboratory results.
“All the infected patients have been admitted to Bintulu Hospital and its Covid-19 low-risk treatment and quarantine centre (PKRC).”
As for the new cluster at Telang Usan, the committee said the community cluster dubbed the Lunyim Cluster involves two villages placed under EMCO, namely Kampung Long Lunyim and Long Tepen.
“A total of 63 individuals were screened and 21 of them tested positive, including the index case. 25 samples are negative and the remaining 17 are still pending laboratory results.”
It said all the patients were admitted to Miri Hospital and its PKRC.
Meanwhile, the state health department had declared an end to three Covid-19 clusters in Kuching after no new cases were reported for the past 28 days. They are Kampung Boyan Cluster which recorded a total of 37 cases, Kenyalang Park Cluster with a total of 35 cases and Akedemi Semariang Cluster with a total of 15 cases.
Meanwhile, SDMC said that there are still 97 active Covid-19 clusters in the state with 15 continuing to report a total of 106 new cases today.
The clusters that reported new cases are Muara Tabuan Cluster in Kuching (1); Jalan Jee Cattleya Cluster in Miri (1); Banting Cluster in Sri Aman (1); Jalan Masket Cluster in Sebauh (7); Kampung Sinar Budi Baru Cluster in Kuching (10); Bali Pie Cluster in Subis (3); Kampung Kolong 2 Cluster in Kuching (5); Kampung Sebandi Hilir Cluster in Lundu (2); Dulang Cluster in Subis (3); Gran Tumbin Cluster in Sri Aman (1); Jalan Tanjung Kidurong 3 Cluster in Bintulu (2); Kampung Serikin Cluster in Bau (23); Lorong Perlis Empat Cluster in Miri (2); Sungai Long Seripa Cluster in Sebauh (35); and Lunyim Cluster, Telang Usan (10).
