Two longhouses linked to new Nyelutong Cluster in Betong

KUCHING (June 26): A new Covid-19 community cluster named Nyelutong Cluster involving two longhouses has been reported in Betong, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

In a statement, SDMC said the new cluster affected two longhouses at a housing area in Nyelutong, Betong and as many as 154 individuals had been swabbed for Covid-19.

“From the cluster, we have detected 39 positive cases, including the index case, and another 104 individuals tested negative. 11 samples are still pending laboratory results.”

The committee said all the patients tested positive had been admitted to Sarawak General Hospital, Sibu Hospital and the Covid-19 low-risk treatment and quarantine centre (PKRC) in Kuching, Sibu and Betong.

Meanwhile, the committee declared an end to the Melugu Cluster in Sri Aman after no new cases were reported for the past 28 days. A total of 120 positive cases had originated from the cluster.

To date, it said the state currently had 94 active clusters and 14 of them had reported 94 new cases today.

The clusters that reported new cases were Beladin Cluster in Pusa with two cases; Jalan Coastal Bintulu-Miri Cluster in Bintulu (9); Muara Tabuan Cluster in Kuching (2), Pekan Tatau Baru Cluster in Tatau (4); Dulang Cluster in Subis (17); Kampung Serikin Cluster in Bau (5), Sawai Niah Cluster in Subis (1); Quadruplex Lapan Enam Cluster in Miri (8), Kevok Cluster in Telang Usan (7); Lunyim Cluster in Telang Usan (1); Nanga Tada Cluster in Kanowit (11), Kilometre 23 Jalan Puncak Borneo Cluster in Kuching (3); Sungai Separai Cluster in Tatau (2) and Nyelutong Cluster in Betong (22).
