Three longhouses in Sarikei, Betong and Spaoh placed under EMCO

KUCHING (June 4): Three longhouses in Sarikei, Betong and Spaoh have been placed under Enhanced Movement Control Order, said the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily statement today.

Rh. Robert Sg Merudu in Sarikei is placed under EMCO from June 4 to June 20; Rh. Jack, Lichock, Seblak, Roban in Betong from June 5 to June 18; and Rh. Ulin, Teberu in Spaoh from June 5 to June 19.

SDMC also announced the extension of EMCO for one longhouse in Kanowit, namely Rh. Jali, Sungai Maong, Machan. Its EMCO will be extended until June 12. The longhouse was previously placed under EMCO from May 23 to June 5.

The committee also declared the end of the EMCO for two locations namely Kampung Tg. Kelaso in Sadong Jaya and Rh. Siba, Batu 28, Skim Sekuau in Selangau.

The implementation of EMCO enables the Ministry of Health to carry out targeted screening on residents in locations where there is an increase in cases.

It also enables the authorities to control movements within the communities to curb the spread of Covid-19.
