Three illegal hunting suspects detained

The suspects arrested by General Operation Force for alleged illegal hunting in Keningau.

KENINGAU: Three men have been detained by the General Operation Force (GOF) for allegedly being involved in illegal hunting.

Sabah GOF Brigade Commander Senior Assistant Commissioner Mohd Abduh Ismail said the suspects, age 19 and 25, were arrested at Mile 63 Simpan Sepulut jungle around 1am on August 21.

“A team of GOF were conducting a routine patrol operation when they spotted a suspicious four-wheel-drive vehicle along the road.

“Upon inspection, GOF personnel found a homemade gun, also known as bakakuk, several bullets and three packets of crystal substance believed to be syabu,” said Mohd Abduh.

Investigation believed the suspects were heading to the jungle for illegal hunting.

The suspects have been referred to the Keningau police district for further action, said Mohd Abduh, adding that the case will be investigated under the Arms Act 1960 and Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
