KOTA KINABALU: A strategic development plan for Tambunan will be formulated soon with the collaboration between Tambunan state assembly office, Tambunan district office and the Institute for Development Studies Sabah (IDS), said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan.

Jeffrey who is also the Keningau member of parliament and Tambunan assemblyman, envisioned that Tambunan will be a first-class district in Sabah where this plan will be a basic principle to guide and develop the district for the next 10 years.

“We need a proper planning to develop Tambunan. We should look at our existing resources, maximise the utilization of land particularly for agriculture activities. Our grazing reserves are underutilized, and we need to identify and enhance potential of tourism assets in Tambunan,” he said during a briefing on the Tambunan strategic development plan study presented by IDS.

This strategic development plan is expected to be completed by end of 2021.

Jeffrey also indicated that a similar strategic development plan study for Keningau will also be conducted.

Present at the briefing were IDS chief executive officer Anthony Kiob and Tambunan district officer Juman Abdul Ghani.
