MIRI (June 23): Police arrested a 43-year-old man yesterday (Tuesday) for threatening to kill his wife at their house in Taman Tunku here.

A Criminal Investigation Department team picked up the suspect following a police report lodged by his 36-year-old wife.

It is learnt that at around 3.30pm yesterday the couple had an argument, which led the suspect to allegedly make the threat against his wife.

The victim claimed that this was not the first time her husband had made such threats.

The suspect was brought to court today and remanded for four days until Sunday (June 27) to facilitate the police investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

If the threat is to cause death or grievous hurt, the Section provides for an imprisonment term of up to seven years, or with a fine, or both.
