KUCHING (June 14): Sarawak is among the top five states and territories that are receiving the highest distribution of Covid-19 vaccines under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme with 697,736 doses to-date.

Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin in the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) weekly press conference today said that the highest distribution of vaccines is in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya with 902,690 doses.

“This is followed by Selangor with 898,230 doses, Sarawak 697,736 doses, Johor 547,280 doses, and Sabah 503,590 doses,” he said.

He informed that a total of 5,955,092 doses of vaccines were distributed nationwide so far.

“By brand, the vaccines distributed were Coronavac (Sinovac) 1,674,142 doses, Cominarty (Pfizer) 3,632,850 doses, and AstraZeneca 648,100 doses,” he said.

According to Khairy, the next shipment of Pfizer vaccine is scheduled to arrive this week and will be distributed until early July.

“For Pfizer, a total of 1,333,800 doses will arrive and will be distributed this week until early July.

“This will be 444,600 doses in equal amounts to be distributed from June 16 to 18, from June 23 to 25, and from June 30 to July 2,” he said.

Khairy said that to date, the registration for Phase 2 of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme has reached a total of 4,531,790 individuals, of which 2,458,432 are senior citizens.

He also said that the number of those who have received their scheduled appointment dates is 2,437,168 individuals.

“The overall vaccination rate of the country continues to increase and did not decrease much over the past weekend where it still recorded a rate of 100,000 and more doses per day.

“The average number of dose given last week (from June 7 to 13) was 130,842 doses a day. This is an increase compare to 94,481 doses a day in the previous week,” he said, adding that the total number of vaccine doses given to-date is 4,490,270.

Meanwhile, Khairy also reminded the public not to go to vaccination centres too early to avoid jamming up the venue.

“Half an hour before your appointment time is sufficient. Don’t go too early in order to avoid causing jams at the centre,” he advised.

Also present during the press conference was Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
