KUCHING (July 4): Those contemplating on what to do after having received their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) results are invited to an online chat with the team from Sunway College Kuching.

Its experienced team members should be able to provide guidance and professional advice throughout this whole July, which has been designated as Sunway’s ‘Registration and Application Month’.

During this period, students and parents would have a chance to discuss course options and career opportunities with Sunway’s team of counsellors, lecturers and managers.

Application for the July 2021 intake of the college’s Association of Chartered Certified Accountants-Foundation in Accountancy (ACCA-FIA) and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) programmes is now open.

Sunway College Kuching is a part of Sunway Education Group, owned by Jeffrey Cheah Foundation.

Since the opening of the Kuching campus in 2008, Sunway College has become a household name associated with the provision of quality higher education. Besides laying the fundamental foundation and equipping students with academic knowledge, it also prides itself in its ability to expose students to international recognition through partnerships with a number of international organisations.

Over the years, Sunway College has acquired a proven track record of good academic performance results and it is no surprise that it is the first and the only institution of higher learning in East Malaysia to be awarded the ‘Approved Learning Partner – Student Tuition, Platinum Status’ by the ACCA, UK.

This significant milestone was first attained in 2010 and for the past 11 years, Sunway College Kuching has managed to maintain this ACCA Platinum Status.

The ACCA-FIA is a seven-paper, technician-level qualification designed by ACCA to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to accountancy. The course can be completed within 12 months of full-time study and is recognised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) as equivalent to a ‘foundation programme’.

ACCA-FIA is generally regarded as a stepping stone to the ACCA professional accountancy qualification.

Upon completing ACCA-FIA, students would receive exemption from the three papers (Knowledge Module) at the fundamentals level of ACCA.

To be eligible for ACCA-FIA programme at Sunway Kuching, a student must obtain a minimum of five credits in SPM, including in English and Mathematics.

Sunway College upholds the philosophy of its founder Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah, of giving back to the community through education. This is done through the provision of financial aid for deserving students in the form of scholarships and bursaries.

Since its incorporation in 2008, Sunway College Kuching has given out over RM1.0 million in terms of scholarships and bursaries.

To learn more about the bursaries and scholarships offered by Sunway College Kuching to students under the 2021 intake, make time to virtually meet with its education counsellors, who are available Mondays to Fridays, from 8.30am to 5.30pm daily; and from on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays (10am to 4pm daily) throughout this entire month.

The July 2021 intake is currently in progress.

Classes for ACCA-FIA would commence this July 14.
