Footage of the fatal incident went viral on social media.

In the clip, the lorry can be seen travelling at high speed and cutting across into the right lane while traffic was moving slowly.

The lorry then crashed into four vehicles.

Selangor Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Azman Shari’at told Harian Metro, “Preliminary investigations found that the accident happened because the lorry driver was travelling at high speed before losing control while exiting the Bukit Jalil Highway.”

“The lorry collided with a van before crashing into a Yamaha Y125ZR motorcycle and a Perodua Axia at the same time, thus causing the motorcycle rider to fall to the ground.”

“Still unable to take control of the lorry, the driver then hit the rear of a Perodua Myvi and a Toyota CHR before swerving under a flyover, hitting a pillar, and finally stopping there,” he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987

Azman noted that the lorry driver has been arrested and will undergo tests for drugs and alcohol.

“Checks found that the driver has no previous criminal records,” he clarified.
