Simunjan changes to Covid-19 orange zone

KUCHING (July 3): Simunjan district reverted to a Covid-19 orange zone from red zone after recording 29 cases in the past two weeks, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

The committee in its daily update today said that the change brought the number of orange zones to three while there are now 27 red zones, nine yellow zones and one green zone.

The other orange zones are Matu and Betong with a total of 101 cases while the yellow zones are Lubok Antu, Kabong, Dalat, Marudi, Beluru, Limbang, Pusa, Belaga and Lawas with a total of 116 cases.

The red zones are Saratok, Tebedu, Julau, Lundu, Telang Usan, Song, Sebauh, Bau, Meradong, Asajaya, Tanjung Manis, Tatau, Bukit Mabong, Sri Aman, Pakan, Kanowit, Selangau, Subis, Mukah, Sarikei, Samarahan, Serian, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu which recorded a total of 6,620 cases.

Daro remains as the sole green zone.

The Health Ministry categorises a district with no Covid-19 cases as a green zone, and over a two-week period, with one to 20 local transmission cases as yellow, 21 to 40 as orange and 41 and more as red.

At the same time, the statement said three shopping malls in Kuching were listed in the Health Ministry’s Hotspot Identification for Dynamic Engagement (HIDE) surveillance today. They are Vivacity Megamall, tHe Spring and Plaza Merdeka.

Meanwhile, the police have issued 47 compounds for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedures with Kuching topping the list with 18, followed by Bintulu (16), Mukah (3), Limbang (3), Bau (2), Kota Samarahan (2), Matu Daro (2) and Kanowit (1).

The offence with the highest compounds issued is loitering in public places past midnight (14), not scanning MySejahtera (11), no physical distancing (8), not wearing face mask (7), not providing hand sanitiser (3), operating premises that were not allowed to open (2) and failing to ensure working capacity below 30 per cent (2).

“The total number of compounds issued since the Movement Control Order was implemented in March 18, 2020 to date stands at 8,674,” said SDMC.

Similarly, the Local Government and Housing Ministry also issued a total of nine compounds with two by the Sri Aman District Council, Bintulu Development Authority (2), Matu and Daro District Council (2), Lawas District Council (2) and Serian District Council (1).

The offences were not scanning MySejahtera (3), not updating attendance book or incomplete registration book (2), wearing face mask (2), operating premises that were not allowed to open (1) and operating over the allowed time limit (1).

This brings the total number of compounds issued since Feb 1 until now to 1,218.
