SIBU (June 13): The vaccination centre (PPV) at Sibujaya’s community hall commenced operations today for residents to receive their vaccination.

Recipients were spotted seated under the tents while waiting for their turn with strict compliance to the standard operating procedure (SOP).

Muhammad Hanif Gandei, 32, and his wife, Eliza Hanim Razali, 37, were among the recipients of the vaccine.

Hanif said the opening up of this PPV is timely in view that Sibujaya is still recording Covid-19 cases.

“At the same time, it creates convenience as we do not need to travel all the way to the PPV in Sibu Indoor Stadium, which is quite a distance from Sibujaya.

“And this also helps to reduce people’s movement throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO) period,” he said.

On that note, Hanif thanked the government, in particular Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing Dr Annuar Rapaee, for opening up the PPV in Sibujaya, which reduced the hassle of folk in the township in getting vaccinated.

Additionally, Hanif informed that he arrived at the PPV around 1pm today and received his Sinovac vaccine at 3.30pm.

He noted that the entire vaccination process was smooth and went well.

Meanwhile, Dr Annuar, who is Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC) coordinator, during his live Facebook streaming last night said the PPV in Sibujaya can vaccinate between 600 and 800 people daily, whereas Lanang and Sibujaya Health clinics are capable of vaccinating 200 people each on weekends.

The PPV in Sibu Indoor Stadium is capable of vaccinating between 1,600 and 2,000 individuals daily, he said.
