SIBU (Aug 23): The water supply in the whole of Sibu is affected due to high silt content from the upper reaches of Baleh River.
Sibu Water Board (SWB), in a short notice posted on its Facebook page today to alert the public, stated that it was unable to carry out water extraction works as a result of that.
SWB said both their treatment plants at Jalan Salim and Jalan Bukit Lima here could only operate at minimum capacity.
“We will try to restore the supply to its maximum as soon as possible. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” it said.
Nonetheless, it is learned that the board will be issuing a press release on the matter later today.
