Sexagenarian who went missing while delivering food to wife found safe

SIBU (July 10): A 66-year-old man who went missing after delivering food to his wife at an oil palm plantation in Tanjong Sungai Ranan in Kanowit on Tuesday was found safe and sound this morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement today said that Singwa Ngap was found within the vicinity of Rumah Inyang, which is about nine kilometres from the man’s longhouse.

“The victim, found safe and sound, has been handed over to the police for further action,” added Bomba.

Last Tuesday, Singwa was reported missing while on his way to deliver food to his wife at about 6pm at the oil palm plantation where she worked.

According to family members, Singwa suffers from paralysis in one arm and occasional seizures.

Bomba received the distress call on Thursday morning and immediately launched a search-and-rescue (SAR) operation focused on a five kilometre radius from the man’s house.

The SAR team comprised of Bomba, police and local villagers.
