Selangau Market to be closed from tomorrow until July 2 after hawker tests positive for Covid-19

SIBU (June 27): The Selangau Market near here will be closed from tomorrow until July 2, after one of its hawkers was tested positive for Covid-19, said Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai.

He pointed out that the five-day closure is to allow for sanitisation work to be conducted at the market.

“SRDC is seeking the understanding and cooperation from public and hawkers, in particular. We apologise for any convenience caused,” Sempurai said in a press statement today.

Meanwhile, Sibu recorded 79 Covid-19 cases yesterday.

From that total, SRDC area recorded 37 cases, while Sibu Municipal Council (SRDC) area recorded 42 cases.
