SDMC examining admission procedures into S’wak

KUCHING (June 18): State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has taken note of the amendments made by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to the Covid-19 Management Guidelines in Malaysia and is in the midst of examining the procedures for admission into the state.

In its daily Covid-19 updates, the committee said that it is looking at the current situation with the State Health Department, and is also monitoring the current developments to coordinate the procedures for those who wish to return to Sarawak from abroad through transit in the Peninsula.

“Until further decisions are made, all travellers are from outside the country must comply with the latest directives set by the MOH.

“Those who have completed the mandatory quarantine period and have negative swab tests on the 10th and 18th days, as well as to return to Sarawak within the same day (24 hours), they are allowed to enter Sarawak and will quarantined at the (designated) quarantine station until the first repeated swab test is negative,” it said.

The MOH has made several amendments to the the Covid-19 Management Guidelines in Malaysia, following the latest development of the Covid-19 situation both within the country and abroad.

In addition, it had made changes in the procedures relating to quarantine and Covid-19 screening for arriving travellers and crew through international entry points.

According to the latest procedures, all travellers from abroad arriving in Malaysia are required to undergo rT-PCR test and to undergo mandatory quarantine for 14 days, or 21 days if returning from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the “Point of Entry” or the first destination or state of arrival before being allowed to continue their journey to another state.

They also need to adhere to the admission procedures that have been set by the next state they are going to.
