SDMC: All 2,723 new covid-19 infections in Category 1, 2

KUCHING (Sept 4): All of Sarawak’s 2,723 new Covid-19 cases today were in Categories 1 and 2, from asymptomatic to mild symptoms, said the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

In its daily update statement, SDMC said about 84.32 per cent or 2,296 cases were in Category 1, while the remaining 15. 68 per cent or 427 cases were in Category 2.

The committee said all the new cases were recorded from 33 districts, with Kuching maintaining top spot with 1,231 cases, followed by Sibu (323), Bau (125), Betong (110), Mukah (104) and Bintulu (100),” the committee said.

Another 16 districts recorded two-digit cases, with Lundu 95 cases, Pusa (82), Sri Aman (73), Serian (64), Simunjan (61), Kapit (52), Miri (44), Subis (41), Tatau (28), Selangau (27), Samarahan (25), Kanowit (20), Song (19), Asajaya (16), Lubok Antu (12) and Saratok (10).

The remaining 11 districts only recorded single digit cases, with Belaga and Meradong each recorded nine cases; Limbang and Tebedu eight cases each; Pakan (7), Beluru (6), Marudi (4), Lawas and Sebauh two cases each; and Dalat and Julau two cases each.

Out of today’s new cases, 1,474 were from close contact with positive cases with 81 having symptoms, 157 from active clusters with 12 exhibiting symptoms, 224 were individuals with symptoms screened at health facilities, 864 were individuals at other screenings at health facilities with 108 showing symptoms, and four import cases of individuals returning from Sabah with two having symptoms.

Meanwhile, 2,322 cases that have recovered and discharged from the hospital today, bringing cumulative number of recoveries and discharges to date at 98,361 or 77.36 per cent.

SDMC said 1,052 were discharged from the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and Kuching PKRC, Kapit Hospital and PKRC (357), Unimas PKRC (292), Serian PKRC (203), Sibu Hospital and PKRC (141), Sri Aman Hospital and PKRC (79), Bintulu Hospital and PKRC (77), Mukah PKRC (43), Betong PKRC (34), Miri Hospital and PKRC (22), Sarikei Hospital and PKRC (18), and Limbang Hospital and PKRC (4).

Active cases still being treated at hospitals today were 28,030.
