Sarawak police issue 30 SOP violation compounds, 11 for no physical distancing

KUCHING (July 10): Eleven of the total 30 compounds issued by the police in the last 24 hours involved gathering and failure to practise physical distancing, said Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

Eight other offences involved failure to scan the MySejahtera QR code before entering a premises while six others were caught in public places after 12am without a reason.

“Three individuals were issued compounds for not wearing a face mask while one individual failed to comply with the permitted business hour, and another individual ferried more than two passengers,” said SDMC in a statement.

Of the total 30 compounds, 15 were issued in Kuching followed by Bintulu (8), Lawas (4), Sarikei (2) and Mukah (1).

SDMC said this brought the cumulative number of compounds issued by the police so far to 9,050.

Apart from that, three local authorities across Sarawak also issued a total of five compounds to those who flouted the standard operating procedures to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The Bintulu Development Authority issued three compounds while the Serian District Council and Sibu Municipal Council issued one compound each.

“Three of the offences involved not wearing a face mask while the rest involved operating beyond the stipulated hour and failure to update the attendance logbook or incomplete entry,” said the committee.

SDMC said this brought the cumulative number of compounds issued by the various local authorities across Sarawak to 1,268.
