Sarawak cops issue 9 compounds for SOP violations since yesterday

KUCHING (July 30): Sarawak police have issued nine SOP violation compounds since yesterday, of which four were for failure to maintain physical distancing.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) also revealed in a statement today that two of the police compounds were issued for offences involving inter-district travel without a permit, and two others involving workers not wearing face masks.

SDMC added that the remaining offence involved failure to scan the MySejahtera QR code or did not sign attendance before entering a premises.

“Four of these compounds were issued in Sibu followed by two each in Kota Samarahan and Miri and one in Bintulu,” it added.

SDMC said this brought the cumulative number of compounds issued by the police across Sarawak to 9,583.

No SOP related arrests were made by the police, and no compounds were issued by the Ministry of Local Government and Housing since yesterday.
