KOTA KINABALU: Saddil Ramdani said he has made the right decision when signing a new deal that will keep him with Sabah FC until November next year.
The Indonesian international footballer said the strong support from the fans as well as the way the Sabah FC management is run were enough to convince him to stay for another season with the Rhinos.
“The chemistry factor (within the squad) and to have a good management that look after the players’ welfare are among the main reasons why I signed a new contract with the club.
“And when I am out there on the pitch, I felt like playing on my home turf…the cheers and encouragement from the supporters convinced me to stay with Sabah FC next season,” he said in a statement issued by the Club on Wednesday.
The left-footed player vowed to give his best to help Sabah FC challenge for top honours in the Malaysian League.
Saddil, who along with Alto Linus and Randy Baruh signed a new contract recently, admitted it was a huge task to accomplish, thus the need to work even harder to achieve the target.
“I have to be more committed in training and focus on the instructions from the coaching staff to further better understand the team’s tactical plays.
“God willing, I’m confident Sabah FC is on the right track to achieve the target,” he added.
Meanwhile, Alto who is one of the longest serving members of the squad, said to be on the wrong side of 30 would not stop him from giving his best for the Rhinos in the 2021 Super League.
“Commitment and my current form are the reasons that I was offered a new contract.
“For me, age is just a number…what’s important is that I continue to train harder and give my utmost best to the team either in training or during games.
“I certainly will not take things for granted, especially after signing a new deal. Instead, I will look at it as a challenge for me to further improve and contribute to Sabah FC.
“There are many good young players coming into the team and I need to work extra hard to be at my best form to be able to help the team,” said the 34-year-old versatile player who joined Sabah in 2009.
As for Randy, the 26-year-old right back felt the hard work he had done all this was worth it and more importantly appreciated by the Sabah FC management.
“I’m really happy…I will continue to train harder, focused and give my fullest commitment in training as well as in matches.
“I want to challenge for a place in the starting eleven and if given the nod, I will try my best…that’s the target.
“Apart from that, I want to achieve even more in my football career and that is to help Sabah win the Malaysia Cup,” he said.
The Rhinos are currently seventh in the 12-team Super League having collected 16 points from 13 matches. They registered four wins, four draws and five defeats.
Sabah FC will resume the league fixtures away to PJ City FC at the MBPJ Stadium on July 24.
