Sabah Punter Who Hit RM17.5 Million Jackpot Says Will Donate Some Winnings To Frontliners

A lucky punter who has been buying lottery tickets every now and then for the past 20 years has won RM17.5 million from Toto 4D Jackpot 1

According to New Straits Times, the winner is a 71-year-old businessman from Sabah.

He bought a System 8 Lucky Pick ticket on 15 November and brought home a whopping RM17,534,807.75 thanks to his winning numbers — 6624 and 2293.

He also won an additional prize amounting to RM2,016.

When he went to collect his prize, he told Sports Toto his winnings were an unexpected windfall amidst the challenging time caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“My wife and I began playing lottery games 20 years ago, but we are not hardcore punters so we only bet when we feel good and lucky,” said the now millionaire septuagenarian.

“My wife is my goddess of fortune as she was the one who told me to buy the Lucky Pick ticket on that day.”

He promised to donate a part of his winnings to people who struggle to make ends meet during this pandemic, as well as to frontliners

“We decided to use part of the winnings to help the people in Sabah who are badly affected by the pandemic by donating to charitable groups and frontliners who have been working tirelessly to keep us safe,” he said.

The senior citizen added he realised he hit the jackpot after checking the draw results through his phone the next day.

Meanwhile, a separate winner from Kuala Lumpur won RM5.3 million with her winning numbers 5056 and 3421

The 53-year-old winner bought the numbers on 28 November.

“I don’t bet regularly, thus I feel that I am really lucky to win the jackpot,” she said, adding that the winning numbers are the numbers she would always bet on.

She said she will save the money for a rainy day.
