KUCHING (June 19): The Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) Virtual Experience 2021 kicked off yesterday, marking the festival’s return following a year’s absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Due to the current Movement Control Order in place until June 28, the free event is being held virtually this year for the first time, from 6pm to 7.30pm until this Sunday.

‘Doors’ open from 4pm at on www.rwmf.net, and festival goers can log on and have a 3D walkthrough of Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) – the home of RWMF.

The interactive map of SCV will enable festival goers to attend workshops from the virtual Bidayuh, Iban, Chinese and Malay houses.

The workshops are recordings of past workshops held at these traditional homes.

Yesterday’s programme included original performances included Alena Murang, Kemada and Sang Rawi, while flashbacks included most fantastic instruments, fastest fingers and best cultural showcases.

There were also interviews with RWMF’s forerunners and personalities.

Aside from logging onto the RWMF website, the public can also watch the show on TVS and Shopee Live.
