A video showing the location of the accident shortly after it occurred went viral on social media

The video is believed to be taken by another food delivery rider who was passing by and  urged authorities to repair the roads in the area, which is in front of The Curve shopping mall.

The man behind the camera said similar accidents have happened on the road before but had never resulted in death.

PJ district police chief ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the victim, who hailed from Kampung Cempaka, was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical assistant

“A post-mortem will be conducted at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre after his COVID-19 test result is acquired,” Nik Ezanee said, as quoted by Malaysiakini.

“The incident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving),” he added.
