Police arrest 14 during raid on entertainment outlet in Kuching

KUCHING (June 9): A total of 14 individuals were arrested during a police raid at an entertainment outlet at Jalan Canna here last night.

According to Kuching district police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah, 12 men and two women, including a Chinese national, who were in their 20s and 30s, were arrested in a special room of the entertainment outlet, with three of them tested positive for methamphetamine.

“A special team from Kuching police headquarters led by the district Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) chief ASP Sayuti Hamid conducted the raid at the premises at about 10.30pm after receiving information,” Ahsmon in a statement.

He said the raiding team also seized 45.7 gramme of Ecstasy powder and two packets of Ketamine powder during the operation.

Ahsmon said those tested positive for drugs are investigated under Section 39A(2) and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Besides that, he said all of the individuals arrested were fined RM1,500 under Regulation 17(1) of Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Amendment) Act 2021.

The entertainment outlet owner was also issued a compound of RM50,000, he added.
