Petronas subsidiaries make contribution to Bintulu PPV

BINTULU (June 30): Petronas is boosting its support of the Covid-19 national immunisation programme in Bintulu with the donation of several essential items to vaccine dispensing centres (PPV) here.

Its subsidiaries – Malaysia LNG Group of Companies, Petronas LNG 9 Sdn Bhd, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Gas and Asean Bintulu Fertiliser Sdn Bhd (ABF) – have collectively contributed eight laptops, 20 sets of queue-up stands and five units of medical grade vaccine cooler boxes worth RM52,000 to the Bintulu Division Health Office yesterday.

ABF managing director Aslam Khan Mohater Khan handed over the items to Bintulu Division Health officer Dr Melvin Chung at the newly set up Oil and Gas Industry Vaccination Centre (PPVIN) in Kidurong today.

“We are doing our part to help accelerate the pace of Covid-19 national immunisation programme, to assist the country’s progress towards achieving herd immunity. This initiative is also part of Petronas’ efforts to safeguard the wellbeing of local communities during the pandemic,” said Aslam.

The PPVIN, which opened yesterday, will roll out the Covid-19 vaccine for some 4,800 oil and gas workers here.

Also present were Bintulu Member of Parliament Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, MLNG senior general manager Shariman Daud, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd – Sarawak Gas general manager Shamsawi Ahmad, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd – Sarawak Gas Head of Health, Safety and Environment’s Cecilia Lakai and Petronas Sarawak senior manager Norazibah Rabu.

The subsidiaries had previously contributed 6,200 disposable personal protective equipment (PPE) items to front-liners from Bintulu General Hospital, Bintulu Police Department, Bintulu Health Office, RELA Bintulu, Bomba Bintulu and Civil Defense Force Bintulu.
