KAMPAR: In the name of love, professional violinist Endang Hyder is willing to part with her violin for RM36,000 to cover the cost of medical treatment for her beloved father, who is sick and bed-ridden.
Endang Hyder, whose real name is Ell Zain Hyder Zainuddin, 34, from Taman Bandar Baru here, said her father, Zainuddin Mohd Ottok, 71, is suffering from a heart problem, low blood pressure and had both his legs amputated recently due to diabetes.
The mother of three said her income as a musician and professional violin teacher had been badly affected due to the movement control order (MCO) since March.
“His health has been deteriorating lately.
“I have decided to sell my classical violin to cover his medical cost and for family expenses, including my three children, aged three to eight,” she said when met at her residence today.
Endang Hyder, who has been playing the violin since 10 under the Perak Department of Culture and Arts, plans to use the money to purchase an RM3,000 electric wheelchair for her father and support her family for at least six months.
Concerned with her predicament, the Taqwa Foundation of the Federal Territories today came forward to hand over RM20,000 financial aid.
Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) chairman Syed Hussien Alhabshee said he was moved after reading a newspaper report recently about Endang Hyder’s decision to sell her violin so as to cover her father’s medical expenses.
“I was touched that she was willing to sacrifice her violin which has been her source of livelihood. At least this assistance can ease the family’s burden,” he said.
