PDRM To Investigate Video Of Alleged VIP’s Luxury Car Breaking Traffic Rules

A video of a luxury car violating traffic rules on a congested road in Kelantan recently went viral on social media

The 38-second clip has been republished on various social media platforms.

It shows a black Toyota Alphard with heavily tinted windows overtaking vehicles in front of it while ignoring double lines on the road and an oncoming lorry from the opposite direction.

According to Utusan Malaysia, the incident is believed to have taken place on Jalan Bukit Marak-Binjai in Kota Bharu.

Netizens allege that the vehicle with the registration number ‘P45’ belongs to a deputy minister.

A formal report on the incident has been lodged and authorities have decided to investigate the matter.

Kelantan Traffic Enforcement Investigation Department head Supt Suhaimi Jusoh confirmed with Utusan Malaysia that the police received a complaint about the incident.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving that disturbs other road users,” he added.

According to the law, individuals found guilty of reckless driving that is dangerous to the public can be punished with imprisonment or a fine

Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 carries the punishment of imprisonment for a term of not less than two years and not more than ten years.

Besides that, an individual charged under Section 41(1) may also be liable to a fine of not less than RM5,000 and not more than RM20,000.
