Police fined a local Tamil movie director RM10,000 for breaching the COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) after he was caught filming outdoors in Negeri Sembilan yesterday, 16 May

According to Bernama, he was served with the RM10,000 compound while he and his team were filming outdoors at Jeti Penambang 2, Bukit Pelanduk near Seremban.

Port Dickson district police chief Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed said that the director — a 59-year-old man — was fined after police received information about a movie being filmed outdoors late yesterday morning.

According to Aidi, filming is only permitted in studios during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period

“The individual who was compounded should have been more sensitive to the SOP set by the National Security Council (MKN), whereby filming is only allowed in studios during the MCO period,” Aidi lamented in a statement last night.

He added that PDRM is paying serious attention to those who have breached the SOPs set by MKN for the Hari Raya period.

This is in order to contain and manage the growing number of daily COVID-19 cases nationwide.

The increase in fines and restrictions come after the rising number of COVID-19 positive cases and daily related deaths in the country

The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 3,780 new COVID-19 positive cases and 36 deaths yesterday.

Heath director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah urged the public to stay at home if they do not have any important matters to conduct outdoors.

He also reminded the public in a tweet yesterday to follow the SOPs if they do need to run errands outdoors.
