KAPIT (June 15): There was no breach of standard operating procedures (SOPs) during Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s recent visit here, said Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi.

According to him, SOPs under the Movement Control Order (MCO) were strictly followed throughout the visit including at the launch of the food aid under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance.

Nanta said throughout the Chief Minister’s visit, Abang Johari did not deliver any speech.

The Kapit MP explained that even though he was in Kuala Lumpur during the event, he was well informed by his representative, political secretary to the ministry Lidam Assam.

“I really appreciate the Chief Minister’s visit to Kapit because he understands our issues in the rural areas like Kapit, Song, Bukit Mabong, and Belaga, especially now we are in the midst of the Movement Control Order,” he said.

Nanta pointed out that the walk-in vaccination followed by registration  approved by Abang Johari would greatly address the problem of rural longhouse folk without access to MySejahtera.

He added that the Chief Minister’s decision to supply 16,800 Covid-19 vaccine doses weekly to Kapit would meet demand locally and resolve previous issues of insufficient supply.

Nanta also thanked all agencies and front-liners in Kapit for their efforts during the MCO and in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) Pelagus chief Datuk Kristoffer Nyuak Bajok had claimed that the June 10 event contravened MCO SOPs and called for mandatory swab tests for all attendees.

It is understood that only 40 chairs were arranged for the food basket event and there were fewer than 50 people present.
