KUCHING (June 26): The Management and Science University (MSU) Foundation recently launched its comprehensive initiative ‘Partnership for Covid Elimination’ (PaCE).
In a statement, MSU said PaCE is an awareness campaign and vaccination strategy that enables MSU and MSU Medical Centre (MSUMC) to share their expertise to help curb the spread of Covid-19
MSU president Prof Tan Sri Dato Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid attended the virtual launching of the initiative alongside senior management of MSU, MSUMC, MSU College, National Security Council Malaysia (NSC) Selangor, and industry partners.
“Since March 17, MSUMC has vaccinate about 16,000 including medical frontliners, senior citizens and people with disability (PwDs).
“Through PaCE initiative, MSUMC will increase vaccine recipients from 1,000 to 4,500 a day with the opening of a vaccination centre (PPV) at Dewan Canselor here,” MSU said.
PaCE initiative involves five key components, starting with awareness on the importance of vaccination to break the chain of infection and reduce mortality.
The campaign running until December includes a series of information sharing through online platforms such as webinars and YouTube Live by a line -up of public health experts such as Datuk Dr Rohaizat Yon, Datuk Dr Christopher Lee and Dato Dr Khalid Ibrahim directly involved in strategies to address the spread of the pandemic in Malaysia.
The second component of PaCE involves vaccination with MSU and MSUMC committed to increase vaccination capacity through drive-by, home care and existing methods.
“This vaccination programme will further strengthen Covid-19 public-private partnership industrial immunisation programme and Higher Education Institution Vaccine Centre (PPV IPT) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health Malaysia and Malaysian Association of Private Hospitals,” it added.
The third component involves corporate sponsorship to cover cost of vaccination and volunteer activities. To date, among corporate sponsors are Nippon Electric Glass (M) Sdn Bhd, V S Industry Berhad, Puncak Niaga Holding, Mega Fortris (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Hernan Corporation Sdn Bhd, MV Technology Sdn Bhd, JM Ching Management Sdn Bhd, Greenway Links Sdn Bhd, UnityLink Services & Agency Sdn. Bhd, United U-Li Corporation Berhad, Betelcare Sdn Bhd and Zheng Food (M) Sdn Bhd
The fourth component is the involvement of MSU and MSUC staff in volunteer activities through MSU Cares specifically for the B40 group community around the Klang Valley in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) initiative.
The fifth component is the involvement of MSU researchers and students in medical and clinical research on Covid-19 with research grants from the Centre of Excellence at MSU.
