MIRI (June 23): The first drive-thru PCR swab-test and vaccination station here should be operational by next week, said Kita Jaga Miri (KJM).

Strategically sited at the entrance of Miri Indoor Stadium, the station was set up at a cost of RM45,000 covering the acquisition of two containers, mechanical and engineering (M&E) drawings, flooring works, as well as the purchase of hardware items and materials.

“We have been informed (by the Health Ministry) that the facility would cater to the elderly folk, individuals with disabilities and/or families with children.

“Nonetheless, it may consider opening up the facility to other groups as well in the near future; any change would be announced by the relevant department,” said KJM in a statement, adding that for now, the Health Ministry could utilise the facility free from any charge.

“We are grateful for being able to serve Miri through another community project, and we look forward to having this drive-thru swab and vaccination facility be put into good use in the fight against Covid-19.

“As a group of apolitical and non-profit organisations, the KJM sincerely encourages all generous and compassionate members of the public to get in touch with us and join all efforts to make this community project a success,” it said.
