MELAKA, Nov 18 — The Melaka state government today said it has revoked the “Datuk” title awarded to the chairman of controversial Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) Nasiruddin Mohd Ali.
New Straits Times cited state secretary Datuk Azhar Arshad saying the instruction from Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam is effective immediately, following advice from Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
Nasiruddin was conferred the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (DPSM) in August 25 this year, which carries the “Datuk” title.
The report also said that Nasiruddin’s name has been struck out from the state’s 2024 honours recipients list.
Azhar said the revocation was made under Article 34B, Section IV of the Melaka Constitution.
Nasiruddin is now equired to return the award to the Melaka State Secretary’s Office in Ayer Keroh.
Last week, the National Council for Islamic Affairs Malaysia (MKI) has declared that the teachings and beliefs propagated by Nasiruddin and GISBH as deviant and divergent from Islamic principles.
This comes following several raids on GISBH welfare homes and business operations, amid accusations of sexual and physical abuse, and deviant practices.
