MIRI (Aug 23): Members of public travelling between Miri, Subis, Marudi, Beluru and Telang Usan districts in Miri Division comprised must abide with the requirements set by Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC).
In a press statement, minister-in-charge of MDDMC Datuk Lee Kim Shin said these include full vaccination with two doses of Covid-19 vaccines, valid police permit and letter from employer for essential service.
“Do not abuse the approved permit to attend social events. The police do not approve inter-district travel permits for social activities or personal affairs such as attending social event, celebrating birthday, hunting or festival,” said Lee after visiting roadblocks at Lambir, Beluru and Bakam with MDDMC team yesterday.
With the Transport Minister during the visit were acting Miri Resident cum Subis District Officer Jamalie Busri, Miri mayor Adam Yii, Beluru district officer Alfred Geling and Marudi district police chief DSP Mohd Ruslan Matkib.
He was informed that since the roadblocks were mounted June this year to curb the spread of Covid-19, Bakam has seen a reduction 40 per cent reduction in traffic while Lambir and Beluru experience 20 per cent less traffic.
Lee also instructed Public Works Department (JKR) Miri to shift Bakam’s roadblock station to a place which is not so close to the main road.
During the visit, he presented food packs, face masks and sanitisation items to frontliners manning the three inter-district roadblocks.
